Our letter to educators, spring 2018:

Dear School Administrators, Educators and PTO members, Spring 2018

If you do not know us already, I would like to introduce myself to you as your local independent bookstore. We can be a source for summer reading books, classroom books and fundraising dollars. Our prices are competitive with other book vendors, and we can bring you authors with book fulfillment.

What we offer:

Summer reading:

  • We work with the school’s media specialists or classroom teacher to acquire the summer reading list books. If you would like suggestions, we can help.
  • With Pre-order: book order forms can be provided for the school, or PTO/PTA to send home prior to year’s end. Pre-order prices are typically discounted with the price including sales tax. We deliver the books to the school sorted by classroom.
  • On-site sales: We offer to set up a table in the school (near the end of the school year) with the summer books available for purchase. A form will have been sent home announcing the book sale.
  • We suggest a combination of both options: an order form presale and a one-day sale table to catch the stragglers (we provide staff to sell titles).

    Classroom Books:

• We are the chosen vendor for many classrooms. If an educator desires a bulk discount we can match most prices. With a tax ID, they can be sold tax-free.

Pricing and discounts:

• We sell books both in the store and online. In store, we have ongoing discount coupons available to our email list, and do a large business with special orders – placing orders every Sunday with books arriving the following Tuesday or Wednesday. Online we offer books, eBooks, audio books, music and movies all at 20% off and $.99 per piece delivery. We provide digital books in all formats from our website as well. Digital audiobooks are available from on all formats.

Shop Nights for Schools and Non-Profits:

  • Pick a mutually agreed upon night.
  • The group has an evening to yourselves to shop (typically 6-9pm).
  • The group provides refreshments and beverage.
  • The organization is responsible for internal publicity, although we can include it in ours,if desired.
  • The store cuts a check to you for 20% of the net sales (pre-tax, or tax exempt, ifapplicable) We will send you the check within a week of the event.

    Our History:

We opened in 2011 over the new Molten Java Coffee Shop location in the Dolan Plaza in Bethel, CT. When we outgrew that location, we moved to 126 Greenwood Avenue next to Verizon, across from P.T. Barnum Square. We specialize in titles by Connecticut authors, children’s books, bestsellers, current new titles and carry a large selection of deep discount books. We also carry gifts, journals, greeting cards, art supplies, puzzles, crystals and much more. Author visits:

We can bring an author to you and provide the book fulfillment. We can provide the book fulfillment for YOUR author events, as well.

We know this is a busy time of year, and we thank you for your attention. I hope we can be of service to you.
Thank you for your support of independent bookselling,

    Alice Hutchinson, owner
